Planet Fair in motion: setting the course for leadership in a new year

11 Mar 2026

The year begins with a shared point of alignment across Planet Fair. The third FPI Partner Circle brought partners together to position fair pay as a governance and leadership standard. The exchange strengthened consistency across the partner ecosystem and reinforced how independent standards sustain credibility as expectations evolve.

Fair pay is no longer framed around awareness or intention. The focus is on credibility, standards, and leadership that can be demonstrated through governance.

At the FPI Fair Pay Innovation Lab, this perspective defines how organizations are approaching fair pay at the start of the year. Transparency is essential as a foundation. The defining question is how credibility is sustained when expectations rise and scrutiny becomes part of normal oversight.

At the start of the year, FPI’s work is anchored in a shared reference: fair pay treated as a leadership standard, not a communication topic.

One conversation, sharper expectations

The conversations carried into the new year reflect continuity with a clearer focus. As organizations prepare for a more demanding regulatory and stakeholder environment, attention is shifting toward defensibility, comparability, and accountability.

An early exchange with Partners captured this evolution. The discussion moved beyond formal compliance and addressed how organizations demonstrate confidence in their pay architecture when challenged. What became clear is that transparency without structure does not generate trust.

Credibility is built when organizations document how decisions are made, explain their pay architecture, and show that fair pay is embedded in governance and leadership practices. Within this framework, the Universal Fair Pay Check® functions as a visible signal of leadership, connecting analysis with accountability and translating transparency into verifiable practice. This is how FPI helps organizations turn transparency into trust.

FPI Screening Board: standards safeguarded through independence

In line with the governance framework the FPI Screening Board has entered a new cycle. This transition reflects continuity and responsibility.

It reinforces an approach where process integrity, methodological rigor, and independence are built into each session, supported by professional judgment, neutrality, and clear control mechanisms.

FPI extends its thanks to the experts who have accompanied this journey. Their contribution has been essential in safeguarding independence, maintaining excellence, and protecting the value of the Universal Fair Pay Check®. Their work strengthens the standards that guide us on the path toward Planet Fair.

Mercer Spain: fair pay through the lens of leadership

The year also began with a focused exchange alongside Mercer Spain in Madrid. The conversation addressed pay transparency from a leadership perspective and how organizations are positioning themselves within the European framework.

What stood out is that the debate has moved decisively beyond intention. Organizations are now discussing criteria, evidence, and responsiveness. In this context, the Universal Fair Pay Check® was referenced as a practical framework that links neutrality in assessment with accountability in outcomes.

This reflects FPI’s approach in practice: fair pay addressed where culture, competitiveness, and trust are shaped, and where leadership is examined through decisions rather than statements.

International Equal Pay Day: evidence, not intention

At FPI, the mission is clear: to close pay gaps worldwide until they reach zero. International Equal Pay Day serves as a reminder of why this matters. More importantly, it reinforces a central principle: commitment gains meaning only when it is supported by proof.

That proof already exists. Organizations across regions and sectors have chosen to open their pay architecture, submit it to structured analysis, implement improvements, and document progress through certification. Since 2021, more than 150 organizations completed the Universal Fair Pay Check®. In terms of reach, over 1.2 million people have been covered under the FPI certification during this period.

This is how the journey toward Planet Fair is advanced: through verifiable decisions, through internal and external trust, and through leadership that can be demonstrated and reviewed.

This is how fair pay enters the year.
This is how credibility is sustained.
This is how we move toward Planet Fair.
