Employment Relations Act 2012 Section 34 requires that the Minister review the minimum wage annually and prescribe it in a regulation. Based on the 2019 Minimum Wage Review Panel recommendations, the Minister of Internal Affairs has increased the rate of pay from $7.25 per hour to $7.60 per hour with the objective of achieving an $8.00 per hour threshold by 2020.
