Job evaluation methodologies utilized involved the use of factors such as "know-how", "problem-solving" and "accountability". A job evaluation utilizing a similar quantitative methodology is under way for offices in the public service which are within the purview of the Salaries Review Commission, and the same exercise should be carried out for offices in the civil service in the future.

As per Sections 6, 11, 14, 16, 17 and 18 of the 1976 Minimum Wage Act , the Minimum Wages Board shall advise and make recommendations to the Minister on all matters relating to the fixing of minimum wages and terms and conditions of service. The government sets the minimum wage in an Order based on the recommendation of the Minimum Wages Board. Available, in the unofficial version, here. The national minimum wage is TT$17.50 per hour. For the purposes of the Minimum Wages Act from 1976, worker is "a person in receipt of earnings from an employer in respect of employment". Interpretation Act Chapter 3:01 extends and applies to every written law in Trinidad and Tobago. According to Section 16(1), "[w]ords in a written law importing [...] persons or male persons include male and female persons". Therefore, within the Minimum Wages Act, the term "worker" refers to both male and female persons.
