Supported by the ILO, through funding from the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), the Economic and Monetary Union for Western Africa launched EPIC during a sub-regional forum on gender equality in Ouagadougu, Burkina Faso, on 7 and 8 December. Representatives from governments, employers' and workers' organizations, and civil society from Burkina Faso, Cote D’Ivoire, Guine Bissau, Mali, Niger, Togo, and Senegal had the opportunity to familiarize with EPIC as a global initiative, but also have a technical discussion on the root causes and manifestation of the gender wage gap in the regional context. Participants lively discussed wage discrimination in the world of work, including in the context of the informal economy.
