The Canadian Labour Congress and our affiliated unions have long advocated for inclusive, intersectional and proactive pay equity legislation, pay transparency, and other legislative and collective bargaining measures to address wage discrimination and narrow gender wage gaps. The Congress looks forward to contributing to conversations around promising practices in legislation, collective bargaining and public awareness.

Our #DoneWaiting campaign focuses on 4 key policy areas to address systemic barriers to economic justice for women. It calls for concrete action on the part of our federal government to end wage discrimination, fix the childcare crisis, end sexual harassment and violence and make work fair for women. The campaign draws particular attention to the impacts of systemic barriers on women with multiple and intersecting identities and reinforces that any solutions aimed at addressing these barriers must lift up the most vulnerable in order to be effective.

Joining EPIC will complement our existing domestic advocacy to address wage discrimination and other systemic barriers to women’s economic justice. EPIC membership complements the work we do internationally, at the International Labour Organizations (ILO) and the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). We look forward to contributing to conversations around promising practices in legislation, collective bargaining and public awareness.
